Either the cutest baby squirrel you've ever seen... or the creepiest.

Just before the end of last school year, the squirrels were runnin' around all fat and plump from their feasting on students' trash. Sadly enough, with the summer departure of what seemed like 75% of campus, the squirrel population was left with nothing to feed on but the anticipation of when students would once again return. With food. Over the next few months, the poor things thinned out like crazy.
They began to look normal, lean... like healthy squirrels should, not all lethargic and... well... like garbage dwelling derelicts.
Sad thing to say is, now that the campus is returning to life, so are the squirrels returning to their vulturely ways. Last week while walking to class, one of 'em was eating a Baby Ruth bar. A candy bar! It seemed very careful in removing the wrapper before it gorged into the chocolate-peanut treasure within. I'd say that people need to throw away their trash before the squirrels get to it, but when the squirrels have adapted well enough to retrieve food remnants from the bottom of trash cans, what more can we do? Squirrel proof trash cans? Start hunting them for sport? for dinner?
